In collaboration with the Canadian Anaphylaxis Initiative, MyAllergyAid organized an insightful and engaging webinar focused on navigating food allergy risks in school settings. This session went beyond typical food allergy training by drawing upon real-world evidence and experiences from parents who face the daily challenges of managing food allergies in their children in school settings where children ae often surrounded by risk and a glaring knowledge gaps exists among staff.
The webinar covered essential topics such as requesting accommodations, understanding parental rights and responsibilities, and how to manage day-to-day safety for food-allergic children, inclusion of children in food ceneterd events, etc. We provided practical strategies and shared valuable insights that can empower parents, educators, and school staff to ensure the safety and inclusion of children with food allergies in school environments.
The session concluded with a heartfelt and enriching coffee chat with parents, where they had the opportunity to share their personal experiences, challenges, and advice. It was a meaningful discussion that highlighted the importance of collaboration and support in ensuring food allergy safety for students.
